For true railway enthusiasts, we offer the opportunity to watch the driver at work during a trip in the driver's cab.

Due to the current Covid-19-measures, we do not offer any driver's cab rides currently.

For big railway fans, we offer the opportunity to look over the shoulders of the train drivers during a ride in the driver's cab.
Procedure for a cab ride

Your day begins with a guided tour of the Laubenbachmühle operations centre. Here you will take your first look behind the scenes of the Mariazell Railway and visit the station building with the Ötscher model, the workshop, the coach house, the training centre and the operations control centre. The tour then continues with the driver's cab ride from Laubenbachmühle to Mariazell - you sit in the driver's cab and experience the beautiful landscape of the mountain line from the driver's perspective. An employee of the Mariazell railway accompanies you during the trip and is always available to answer your questions. Once you arrive in Mariazell, you will return after a few minutes, concluding with a souvenir photo and the presentation of the certificate at the Laubenbachmühle operations centre.an ideal gift for birthdays or festive occasions!

Variant 1:
Guided tour at 07:00
Cab ride at 07:51 to Mariazell and return at 09:05. End at 10:07 am.

Variant 2:
Guided tour at 15:00
Cab ride at 15:51 to Mariazell and return at 17:05. End at 18:07 hrs.

Dates and further information 2024:
Cab rides are generally possible on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from May to October - please book at least 14 days before the desired date.
Even if you book in good time, the desired date cannot be guaranteed as only limited places are available. We recommend early booking.
For safety reasons, only people over the age of 12 can take part in the rides in the driver's cab.
Cancellation conditions: From booking 50% of the total price, from 48 hours before the trip 100%.
